What to do
It is extremely important that consumers take immediate action to determine if the crib they are using is affected by this recall. This type of hazard presents an extremely serious risk. Consumers should check to see if the drop‑side is installed right side up. To do this, check to see that the slightly rounded rail with the decorative groove is installed at the top and the plain rail is on the bottom. Next, consumers should make sure the drop‑side is securely attached to the tracks in all four corners. If the drop‑side is installed upside down or not securely attached, consumers should stop using the crib immediately. Incorrect installation can cause permanent damage to the hardware and re‑installing the drop‑side using the same hardware is unsafe. Consumers should check to see if their crib contains the hardware indicated in this advisory. The affected hardware has a flexible tab at the bottom of the lower tracks and the top of the lower tracks are open. Newer hardware, which is not subject to this advisory, has the flexible tab located at the top of the lower track, and a permanent stop at the bottom. Elfe Juvenile Products will provide replacement hardware as required. Elfe Juvenile Products will mail, to all known owners with a Simplicity crib affected by this advisory, instructions to correct the installation of the drop side rail. In addition, Elfe Juvenile Products will email these instructions to those consumers who provided their email address to Elfe Juvenile Products. In Canada, to ascertain whether your crib is affected, please call the Consumer Service department of Elfe Juvenile Products at 1‑800‑667‑8184. Date modified: 2007-09-01
