What to do
Consumers should immediately replace the smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a functioning detector. Consumers should discard the detector according to their municipal waste requirements for electronic products. When purchasing and installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, consumers are advised to look for a recognized certification mark on the product, such as CSA, cUL or cETL.
