Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen. Exposure to benzene can occur by inhalation, orally, and through the skin and it can result in cancers including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow and blood disorders which can be life threatening. Benzene is prevalent in the environment and people can be exposed to benzene during everyday life by air (e.g., by inhaling car exhaust, second-hand tobacco smoke and industrial emissions) and by swallowing benzene or by absorbing it through the skin (e.g., through contact with contaminated water). As of February 16, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.
