Health Canada warns Canadians that a Vertbaudet children’s bathrobe poses a flammability hazard

Issued April 5, 2022
Issue
The product does not meet the flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear of the Children’s Sleepwear Regulations . Loose-fitting children’s sleepwear can come in contact with flammable sources such as stove elements, candles, and matches more readily than tight-fitting sleepwear. Once the sleepwear has caught on fire, it may burn rapidly, potentially resulting in severe burns to areas of a child’s body.
Hazard description
Flammability hazard
What to do
Immediately stop using this children’s bathrobe and dispose of the product. General children’s sleepwear safety tips: Dress children in actual sleepwear when putting them to bed. Make sure any belts, ties or sashes on children's robes are stitched firmly to the centre back of these products. Check for loose buttons or other small parts that could become a choking hazard. Check sleepers and blankets regularly for loose threads, and fix them immediately.
