Backcountry Access Tracker4 Avalanche Transceiver recalled due to risk of no signal transmission during emergencies

Issue
The transceiver toggle switch may separate from the product. The toggle switch is responsible for selecting transmit mode, search mode, or turning off the device. This separation could prevent the transceiver from switching modes following an avalanche, resulting in no additional aid in the search and rescue process in the case of an avalanche. As of May 26, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled transceiver and contact K2 Corporation of Canada for a replacement product. For more information, consumers can contact K2 Corporation of Canada by telephone at 1-866-455-2748, by email or on the company website . Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and K2 Corporation of Canada. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
