Welds in the arm attaching the backboard to the pole may fail and cause the backboard to fall, posing an impact hazard. As of September 20 , 2022 , the company has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of the backboard detaching, leading to injury.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable basketball goal and contact the company to arrange for a technician to remove the original arm and install a replacement arm. For more information, consumers can contact Spalding toll free at 1-800-284-8339 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CT Monday though Thursday, or visit the company website. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Russell Brands, LLC.
