Health Canada warns that BabyTeddy 7 in 1 Convertible Baby Crib Wooden Baby Cot may pose entrapment, injury and chemical hazards

Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that this crib does not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations for the following reasons: The slats of the crib can break posing entrapment and injury hazards to infants. The gold paint used on the crib contains lead in excess of allowable limits. Lead is highly toxic, especially to children. A range of serious health effects have been associated with exposure to lead and cadmium, including anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain injury, convulsions, coma, as well as effects related to the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system. In extreme cases, there have been deaths.

What to do
Consumers who have this affected crib should immediately stop using it and safely dispose of the item in such a way that it cannot be used again . Consumers should find an alternative safe sleeping environment for their infant. Regularly check the Healthy Canadians Recalls and Safety Alerts database for dangerous products and take action to remove items of concern. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of these products or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
