Black Diamond Equipment Recon LT Avalanche Transceiver recalled due to risk of a signal transmission failure during emergencies

The recalled transceivers can unexpectedly enter ‘search’ mode despite the rotary switch being in its ‘send’ position, resulting in the transceiver failing to transmit a signal which can cause delayed search and rescue operations in the case of an avalanche. As of April 11, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 7 reports of product malfunction and no reports of injuries.

onsumers should immediately stop using the recalled transceiver and follow the instructions on the Black Diamond website to update the firmware or receive a full refund. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Black Diamond Equipment Ltd. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
