BKIND Brightening Face Serum recalled due to microbial contamination

The recalled products may contain a common microorganism called Pseudomonas luteola . Pseudomonas luteola is an environmental organism found widely in soil and water. People with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment. The bacteria can enter the body if inhaled, through the eyes or a break in the skin. People with healthy immune systems are usually not affected by the bacteria. As of June 5, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the BKIND Brightening Face Serum, contact the company for a replacement or refund, and then dispose of it. Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulation the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
