Steam Humidifiers recalled due to Fire Hazard

Issue
Steam Humidifiers containing a specific type of electrode wire with a “D” shaped connector may loosen causing arcing and/or overheating at the interface of the connector and canister, posing a fire hazard to consumers. As of June 13, 2023 the company has received 103 reports of overheating in the United States and Canada, including 10 reports of overheating and 1 incident resulting in smoke or residential fires in Canada.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using and shut off the recalled product and contact Research Products Corporation to receive a free electrode wire repair kit and assistance with identifying a qualified contractor to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of their electrode connector wires. For more information, consumers can contact Research Products Corporation by telephone at 1-888-742-2401 from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m ET Monday through Friday or visit the company website at rpcrecall.com/steamhumidifier or at researchproducts.com and click on “Recall Information” at the top of the page for more information. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and R esearch Products Corporation. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
