Amana Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps recalled due to burn and fire hazards

Issue
The DigiAir module compressor can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards. As of July 26, 2023, the company has received no reports of any issues with the products in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 52 reports of issues with the DigiAir compressor including 10 resulting in fires, and no reports of injuries.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product until the DigiAir compressor in the recalled PTAC unit has been disabled by following instructions to disable it and contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. (DCT) to arrange a free repair of the unit by a qualified technician. DCT is contacting all known purchasers directly. For more information, consumers can contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing L.P. by telephone toll-free at 1-844-309-1141 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm CT , Monday through Friday, or visit the company website . Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. (DCT). Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
