Generac Portable Generators recalled due to Fire and Burn Hazard

Issue
The recalled generators can fail to vent adequately from the rollover valve, causing the gas tank to build up excess pressure and expel fuel when opened, posing fire and burn hazards. As of September 11, 2023 the company has received no reports of overheating and pressurizing or expelling fuel when opened and no reports of injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has 27 reports of overheating and pressurizing or expelling fuel when opened, including 3 incidents resulting in severe burn injures.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled generators and contact Generac for a free repair kit. For more information, consumers can contact Generac by telephone at 1-8 88-391-0503 from 8 am to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit the company website at https://www.generac.com/about-us/product-recall-notifications/GP15000-GP17500-recall . Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Generac. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
