DR Power Equipment Chipper Shredders recalled due to laceration hazard

Parts of the power chipper shredder can come loose inside the housing with the risk that pieces of metal maybe ejected from the chipper shredder hopper while it is in use, posing a laceration hazard. There are also reports of hoppers unexpectedly detaching from the chipper shredder, posing a laceration hazard. As of September 20, 2023, the company has received one report in Canada and 23 reports in the United States of parts coming loose inside the shredder housing during use, including some instance of damage to the unit. There are no reports of injuries in Canada or the United States.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power chipper shredders and contact DR Power Equipment to receive a full refund or a free repair including shipping. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and DR Power Equipment. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
