Shimano 11-Speed Bonded Hollowtech II Road Cranksets recalled due to risk of injury from crash hazard

The bonded crank parts can separate and break, posing a crash hazard to consumers. As of September 15, 2023, the company has received approximately 450 warranty claims in Canada, and no reports of injury. In the United States, the company has received approximately 4,069 warranty claims and 6 reports of injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cranksets and contact Shimano to schedule a free crankset inspection. Only consumers whose cranksets show signs of bonding separation or delamination during the inspection will be provided a free crankset and installation. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Shimano North America Bicycle Inc.
