Various custom-made corded window coverings by Vénitiennes 83 Inc. recalled due to strangulation and choking hazards for children

Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose a strangulation hazard. In fact, the cord shield can be easily removed making the operating rope accessible. Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard and even death. In addition, the products can also release small parts (bottom rail end caps) that present a choking hazard to young children. Children can become entangled in blinds cords, which can quickly lead to strangulation and even death. Health Canada recommends cordless window coverings.
