Various Toshiba-brand AC adapters recalled due to risk of fire and burn hazard

Issue
The flame retardant used in the manufacturing of the components of the affected AC Adapters may lead to a potential of overheating or fire. As of February 2, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company Dynabook America, Inc. (“DBA”), an affiliated company to DCI that operates in the United States, has received 679 reports of potential incidents, and 43 reports of minor burns between 2010 to 2021.

What to do
Consumers should immediately dispose of all affected AC Adapters that remain in use and contact DCI for a free replacement AC adapter. For more information, consumers can contact Dynabook Canada Inc. (DCI)’s bilingual consumer support by telephone at 1-800-663-0378, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm EST, Monday to Friday, by email at DBC-Support@dynabook.com or visit the company website . Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Dynabook Canada Inc. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
