Daikin, Amana and Goodman-branded heat pumps recalled due to risk of excessive heat exposure

Issue
A power interruption can result in the product providing heat when power resumes, despite the thermostat being in cooling mode, posing a risk of excessive heat exposure to consumers. As of June 13, 2024 the company has received no reports of overheating or injuries in Canada. In the United States the company has received no reports of overheating or injuries.

What to do
If your unit has not already received the corrective update and there is not an immediate need for air conditioning, turn off and stop using the recalled product. Contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. (“DCT”) to have your units software remotely updated for consumers whose units are connected to WiFi. Consumers with systems not connected to WiFi should register for the recall at www.goodmanmfg.com/fit-recall to receive instructions to perform the update. For more information, consumers can contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P . by telephone at 1-855-545-0235, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm CT, Monday through Friday, or visit the company website . Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
