Kuat Transfer v2 hitch-mounted bicycle carrier recalled due to injury hazard

The pivot cams on the affected Transfer v2 Bicycle Hitch Racks can become disengaged, allowing the bike carrier to drop unexpectedly into the lower position. This malfunction could cause a bicycle to fall off the product while a subject vehicle is in motion, as well as injury or property damage to the product, the bicycle, the subject vehicle, and other vehicles on the road, including potentially a vehicle crash. As of June 14, 2024, the company has received no report of incident or injury in Canada.

Injury hazard

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products or take temporary precautions using a safety strap to reduce the chance of malfunction and contact the company for a free repair kit to permanently correct the defect.
