The recalled products do not meet the leakage test requirements and child-resistant packaging requirements for consumer chemical products required by the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. The cans may leak fluid or the plastic child-resistant cap may become loose or come off. Leaks from the container could result in unintentional exposure to the toxic chemical product and lead to serious illness or injury. As of July 19, 2024, the company has received 4 reports of incidents from distributors and no report of incidents from consumers in Canada. The company has received no report of injuries in Canada.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Solvable Pro Paint Cleaner & Thinner and Varsol Paint Thinner and safely dispose of them according to municipal hazardous waste guidelines, even if the container is not leaking and the cap is intact.
