KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen recalled due to strangulation hazard

If young children are climbing on the counter or crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchen, their clothing can get caught on the plastic or metal hooks meant to hold toy kitchen accessories such as play pots and pans, posing a strangulation hazard. As of July 30, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has recently received one report of a child’s clothing getting caught on one of the product’s metal hooks while climbing and crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchen where the toy kitchen accessories are held. The child was unable to rescue himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia. The unit involved was not securely fastened to the wall creating a gap between the unit and the wall where a child was able to climb and have their clothes entangled with the hooks. No additional reports of incidents or injuries have been reported in the United States.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen and contact Backyard Kids for free replacement hooks . E nsure that the play kitchens are always securely anchored against a wall using the tip-over prevention kits that were provided with these units. The company will provide new tip-over prevention kits upon request. For instructions on how to remove the units’ existing hooks and to participate in the recall, consumers should visit www.kidkraft.com/pages/recall , send an email to recall@kidkraft.com , or call toll-free 1-800-822-0234, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Backyard Kids, LLC. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
