The Paris Apothecary Aristocrat Beard Oil and Beard Balm recalled due to a chemical hazard

Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the recalled products contain methyl eugenol above the maximum concentration outlined in the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. Methyl eugenol is prohibited as a pure ingredient on the Hotlist due to its potential for carcinogenicity but is permitted as a naturally occurring component in botanical extracts with specific limits depending on the product type. As of January 6 th , 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and dispose of them or contact The Paris Apothecary for a refund. For more information, consumers can contact The Paris Apothecary by email at t heparisapothecary@gmail.com or visit The Paris Apothecary retail store Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST. Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulation the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada. Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form .
