Generac portable generators recalled due to fire hazard

When first filling the recalled generator, fuel can leak from the carburetor, posing a fire hazard. Consumers with generators that have previously been filled with enough fuel to move the gauge off "E," or have been used without any fuel leakage, can continue use. As of March 31, 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 114 reports of fuel leaking with no reports of fire or injuries.

What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable generators and contact Generac to determine if their product is included in this recall. If your unit is included in the recall, and has either not yet been filled with fuel or exhibited leakage after fueling as described above, please contact your dealer to arrange for a free repair at the dealer’s location. Joint recall with Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Generac Power Systems Inc. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
