1995 Western Star Conventional Recall

Issued February 2, 1996
Issue
Hazard description
On certain trucks, the throttle springs were manufactured such that the hooks at each end may have a tighter than required diameter. If the diameter of a hook is too tight it may bind on the throttle spring anchor nuts. This binding may lead to spring fatigue and eventual spring failure. If both springs fail, the engine may not return to idle upon release of the accelerator. This could result in loss of vehicle control and a crash. Correction: Throttle return springs will be replaced with redesigned springs.
