1999 International 9900 Recall

Issued March 31, 1999
Issue
Hazard description
On certain vehicles, the automatic slack adjusters may have had insufficient torque applied to the guide pawl cap screw. This condition may cause the brakes to gradually lose adjustment. This could result in loss of brake effectiveness and increased stopping distances which could in turn result in a vehicle crash. Correction:: The torque will be checked on the automatic slack adjuster guide pawl.. If there is no torque, the brakes will be adjusted and the guide pawl will be tightened to 15-20 ft. lbs.
