Hazard description
On certain motorcycles, the spring in the cam chain tension adjuster can break. If this happens, excessive slack will develop in the cam chain, which can allow the cam to jump to the wrong position on the cam shaft sprockets. If the cam chain jumps to the wrong position, severe engine damage may occur. This may cause sudden engine failure which in turn could cause rear wheel lockup, disturbing the rider's ability to control the motorcycle resulting in a possible crash without prior warning. Correction: A modified cam chain tension adjuster will be installed on all affected vehicles.
