1994–2003 International Strip Chassis Recall

Issued October 9, 2002
Issue
Hazard description
On certain vehicles, the accelerator rod can become bent when pedal forces exceed normal expected driver inputs, such as may occur when the pedal is at maximum travel and the vehicle encounters a large bump. In some cases, the pedal can interfere with the vehicle floor and become lodged in the full throttle position resulting in unexpected acceleration and/or extended stopping distance. This could cause the vehicle to have a collision, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: For RE buses, dealer will retrofit vehicles with a new pedal rod and bracket with incorporated pedal rod stop. For Strip Chassis, dealer will install an adjustable pedal rod stop on the floor.
