2012–2016 Vermeer Bc900xl Recall

On certain brush chipper units, a weld joint on the unit's frame where the tube-tongue intersects the plate-frame front cross member may have been undercut during manufacturing. This could create a high stress factor on the tube-tongue at the start/stop point of the weld, and could result in bending and/or fatigue fractures (cracks) which can lead to the tube failing. This would allow the unit to separate from the towing vehicle, possibly striking another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander, causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will cut off the fixed tongue next to the connection to the main frame and another tongue will be inserted into the main frame and bolted into place to remove the high stress condition.
