Issue
Hazard description
On certain vehicles, the bolts and locking nuts that secure the brake spiders or brake anchor plates to the axles on the right side may have been under-torqued. The nuts cannot back off because they are locking nuts. If the clamp load on the bolts is not sufficient, the anchor plate may move when the brake is applied in either forward or reverse direction. This movement may cause individual brake components to fail or eventually fatigue all the anchor plate mounting bolts. If all bolts break due to fatigue, the worst-case would be complete loss of braking at a wheel end which could result in an extended stopping distance and could cause a collision, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealer will inspect and tighten all suspect bolts.
