Issue
Hazard description
On certain school buses, the microswitch which controls the stop arm position can malfunction intermittently in operating conditions below 0 degrees Celsius, possibly causing the stop arm to open or close to an improper position or not open at all. This could lead to a vehicle passing a stopped school bus and possibly striking pedestrians. Vehicles that include a stop arm switch heater may not have the heater wire connected, which can result in the same failure mode. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the microswitch plate subassembly and connect the heater wire if not already connected.
